After light

“There's always light after the dark. You have to go through that dark place to get to it, but it's there, waiting for you. It's like riding on a train through a dark tunnel. If you get so scared you jump off in the middle of the ride, then you're there, in the tunnel, stuck in the dark. You have to ride the train all the way to the end of the ride.”

Making our way to explore this little island's little nook and crannies. This island never fails to amaze me and seeing how much we've grown and how far we've come, makes me proud to be a Singaporean. The new Victoria Theatre is absolutely beautiful, holding on to its familiar facade yet injecting a new modern breath of air in its interior.

We played a little with backlight, sunsets and photography. Amateurs we are, it's still a work-in-progress, but I'm in love with what light can do for photos!

It's the end of a long and wonderful weekend, and no matter we are walking through light or darkness, I'll continue to count my blessings :')

Etude House Play 101 Pencils (Part I)

Introducing the much raved series from Etude House : Play 101 Pencils!

I was extremely excited for it to reach our shores after watching Pony's videos on how she utilised these versatile pencils to create different make-up looks. These pencils can be used on our eyebrows, for eyeshadows, eyeliner, highlighter, blusher and lipstick! It's amazing how this can be used for so many different purposes, and it's definitely lightening our make-up/travel make-up pouch now! ;)

Etude House Singapore brings in 13 colors (out of the range of 50 colors available),
but fret not as we've gotten quite a bit of basic colors!

The entire list of amazing colors of the Play 101 Pencils (not all available in Singapore at the moment).
It's crazy but I wish I had them all!! :P

They come in different textures, of glossy, glitter, creamy, and matte. Despite the different textures, all the pencils are soft, so application of these must be gentle!

Here is a guide to some of the make-up looks created with just the pencils, and frankly I was so hooked onto it even before it arrived, simply after watch the make-up tutorial videos. The possibilities are endless.

I'll be featuring 15, 20, 26, 28, 50 in my next post! I've been using them to create more comprehensive make-up looks when necessary, and I love how they aid in replacing my actual lipsticks, eyeshadows, etc and are so portable. The colors can be pretty pigmented too! *thumbs up*

My favourites are 20, 28 and 50 and they are best for even day-to-day make-up looks.

Now available at all Etude House Stores in Singapore for S$12 each.
Head on down to do a swatch test of the colors. I highly recommend it! ;)

10 Things that Men do that Women Love

I've had the privilege of guest writing an article on Love Out Loud Asia some time ago. It's my first time doing something like this, and disclaimers first. I am really no writer, and while writing is not my forte, I do enjoy doing a little bit of it every now and then :)

It was a really refreshing experience, having to pick at my rusty brain at words, and thinking about the best way to put across ideas and thoughts, and I really must thank the team behind Love Out Loud Asia for being ever so patient and understanding over my hectic schedule during that period. So yes, I present to you my article on 10 things that Men do that Women love.

10 things Men do that Women love:

1) Good Morning & Good Night messages

It’s lovely to be able to receive good morning & good night messages from your partners, knowing that you are the first thing on their minds in the morning, and the last thing on their minds before they turn in. Besides, who wouldn’t smile with a text that goes, “Good morning Princess!” It kicks off your day with such a sweet start!

2) Being a gentleman

This may be highly underrated in modern society but… Who doesn’t love a gentleman? Opening doors for your lady, pulling out the chair for her at the restaurant, simple gentlemanly acts like these gets you plenty of brownie points, trust me! Go on guys, show us that chivalry is not dead.

3) Listen

Women appreciate it when men take the time and listen to what they have to say. Be it a rant about a bad day, or a problem that came up, just being able to talk about it and have it out of our system, provides us with a lot of relief. We don’t need you to solve our problems (unless openly stated), we just need a listening ear, really, that’s all.

4) Surprises

Of course I’m not talking about the dramatic gestures that are obviously impossible to maintain in the long run. I’m talking about spontaneity, and random (mini) surprises. Bring us to a new place, or throw us a surprise visit with our favourite food. Small little actions like these go a long way to bring a smile to us.

5) Cook

A way to our hearts… can also be through our stomachs! What’s sexier than a man who can cook? Throw on some manly apron and watch them do their thing in the kitchen. The kitchen is no longer a woman’s territory, guys. It’s yours to own too. This makes for a great couple activity to do too, by the way.

6) Compliment

Yes I know we don’t look 100% put together all the time but when we do, throw us a compliment our way. It boosts up our confidence tremendously with compliments coming especially from our loved ones. Which women wouldn’t love to be complimented too? ;)

7) Personal grooming

While no one is expecting a dapper put together look every day, but perhaps a good regime of personal grooming is a good telling of your character as a whole. Make sure you’re well groomed for a good first impression, and we all know what first impressions usually are. Important with a capital I!

8) Be yourself

There’s only one person you should be in your lifetime, and that is yourself. Cliché as it may sound; your loved ones should only ever truly love you for who you are. Of course we love it when you’re just being yourself, and not pulling a façade, because well. We. Can. Tell.

9) Honest

A fundamental of any relationship is honesty. To be open and honest with one another, builds trust, and trust opens up to more ways and opportunities to grow a healthy relationship. Don’t lie even about the small things. Cultivate a good habit of being truthful to pave the way for a strong relationship.

10) Driven

Ambition may take its form in many different ways. Ultimately, it is attractive when a man knows what he wants and knows how to get it. Have a plan, work towards it, and you can count on your lady to be supporting you while beaming with pride for you.

So there you go!
A small insight on the world of women and why we love the things that you do ;)

Golden glorious hours

Some days you'll feel more hopeful than others, and some drains every willing energy you have.
But on most days, it's important to look upon all things with positivity.
Everything will come in its time.

On a Saturday date out with my beau, and catching the glorious golden hour. If you are on my Instagram (@littlemissann), you'll find that I occasionally post pictures of the golden hour. I simply love the glow the sunset gives, and the amazing colors it brings to the skies. So beautiful. And also because I simply can't wake to catch the sunset, haha.

I've finally tried the highly recommended Llao Llao and I love it! The queue was unexpectedly long and it got even worst after we turned around after getting our Sanum. And yes, try the Sanum! With three toppings of fruits, and one of a biscuit/cookie base, this is pretty good I must say. A well balanced combination of everything! Sorry G, we can't share this the next time round. Good things are meant to be shared, but awesome things are better bought in twos! :P

Happy girl, truly! :D

Ended the night with some live jazz music at the Esplanade and some lovelier company of his parents. Jazz is one of my favourite genres, and when in the right mood and ambience, it soothes and calms me. July is filled with Jazz activities at the Esplanade, and hopefully I can go catch more in the coming weekends! :)

Sneaking in a little time off work to dust off the cobwebs on my blog. Yes I'm still alive. A lot less active on my writing platform because my time online is mostly used for work, but a lot more on Instagram. Catch you there? ;)
