Symmetry

Just the other weekend, G & I decided to have some brunch after our studio shoot. It was a morning/noon shoot, so we were still really drowsy. I always always like to have some indulgence after shoots because believe me, it CAN get tiring! Chanced upon Symmetry nearby decided to head in!

It was REALLY crowded on a weekend during lunch time. I think you might want to make reservations prior to heading down, though I'm not sure if you can actually do that. We waited for about 15 minutes for a table and I think we were actually pretty lucky to get it that fast. The place is really small & cramped!

The decor boasts of raw and unfinished elements, with lots of kooky things thrown into it as well! Haha. Hipster much!

Poor tired boy...

And he manages a smile here... <3

G ordered a Breakfast Trio, while I went for Truffle Eggs Mushrooms. We both loved our dishes very very much. It felt a little different from the usual brunch offerings I've seen, and tasted a notch better than everywhere else I've tried. I can't say much for G's dish though I had a few bites and it was good! Quite a lot going on for his dish haha. I loved mine to bits. The truffle scrambled egg was PERFECT, and that purple butter you see above? It tastes like a mixture of butter & jam! It was so unique and went so well with the bread. Yummy!!

The price range for Symmetry might be a little steeper than the other brunch places, but don't let that deter you from visiting them! I definitely had a good time filling my tummy with good food. Really really made my Saturday!

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade

I've planned an elaborate shoot last Sunday with a few collaborators coming on board, only to have it cancelled by the dreadful rain. It rained at about 5 plus am and I got woken up having to arrange for an alternative plan. At that point of time, we could try to push back the shoot and see if the rain would stop. BUT IT DIDN'T >:( Sigh. The weather's so unpredictable! I feel bad having to cancel on everyone but there's just no way the shoot can go on as planned and having to make everyone cancel half a day's activities just to go on with me. Frustrating!

We managed to catch a few more hours of sleep but still felt really tired after we woke up. I'm really thankful that we could still pull through this without any further trouble! Ahhh, totally needed that bit of relief from my recent work troubles. Everything went well during the shoot, and managed to catch up a little with dear Fiona! :D After we finished, I felt a little lighter because at least this set of clothes and photos are settled! Part of me still feels heavy because of the upcoming shoot that's postponed till this weekend. The heaviness in my heart stems from the unpredictable weather. What if it rains out again? I have so many people to answer to, plans to change, and my physical state of body to handle with the disruptive and little sleep. Sigh...

I've been dealing with a lot of work woes lately, so please don't mind the verbal rant on my social medias. I really need some platform to type it all out, because having it bubble within me wouldn't solve anything and I guess negativity generates more negativity and I'll just keep spiralling down. Need to keep my head up and stay strong. Thankful for the encouragement people have been pouring me with :') I really really am grateful for your kind words you guys <3

On to my favourite pictures from this set! So happy that the pictures turned out lovely despite everything. I went home feeling a little happier that day!

I love white buildings with a colonial/victorian touch to it. Love love love it. I don't understand why especially so but it makes me feel all happy inside upon seeing them in Singapore! The last time I've done a shoot with white buildings at the background was at National Museum, and that wasn't a very pleasant experience because apparently, the 'National' Museum, isn't very open to the nationals in Singapore after all. Pfft.

Walked past this gorgeous place just a day before the shoot, and kept it in my archives of places to shoot at, teehee!

The famous Topshop inspired laser-cut romper! :D We manufactured it wayyy before the hype and the supplier took way too long to get it back to us hence we are only launching it after everyone :( Thankful that my instinct told me to not copy blindly, hence the slightly different final product! :) Just a little sad that things did not work out according to plan and we couldn't have the Large size. Please do email me at laceandebony@gmail.com if you would like to have the Large size made. We would only do so if there are enough responses to hit our quota!

I love all the colors, really! Each color has its own unique persona, and I can see myself styling the various colors on different days when I have different moods. The pink is super cheery! It's not too loud/in-your-face-bright, but it's a happy color, I love it! Sadly, the sizes seem to fit ladies leaning towards the petite side, so this is one for you petite ladies! ;)

I hope you enjoyed this series of pictures. I'm in love with entire feel of this short series. You have no idea how relieved I am after seeing what Fiona has shot for me. It was a huge turnaround for my shitty day!

I've just launched with these new designs and more!

"The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. The brick walls are there to stop the other people, the people who don't want it badly enough."

Till the next time! x

Our little Egyptian Adventure

Selamat Hari Raya! The long weekend is finally here! *throws confetti* :D I'm sure everyone has been anticipating the 3 day work week and looking forward to a good long rest. Lots of people I know has been falling sick, booo. (Yeap, I'm still coughing after 2 weeks :( Any remedies?) Do take the chance to rest and recuperate. Stay safe everyone!

As a couple, we find ourselves frequenting our favourite familiar haunts, places with food that we love and wouldn't mind having over and over. Not that I'm sick of our favourite foods (really B, I'm not! :P), but adding a bit of novelty into our dates every now and then brings a whiff of excitement sometimes! Dressed up a little more and headed down to Haji Lane / Arab Street to see what we can find!

Did a few street photography, thanks to my dearest boy! (:

Hahahahaha, I can't even......

Yup, we didn't know where's good so we randomly popped into an Egyptian restaurant slightly off Arab Street. We found Shahrazad! (:

We ordered a Meat Platter for 2 portions and it came with chicken breast, beef, mutton & something else that I really forgot (I think it's beef-related haha) but it's super yummy! It comes with a choice of Rice or Bread. We chose one each, and I'm loving the tasty rice that's slightly flavoured! The portions seemed pretty small at first and I got pretty worried if we ordered too little. Halfway through the meal, I realised that it's actually pretty filling! Looks are very deceiving, or is my appetite getting smaller?? :/ The meats are well marinated, but I felt that some meat were a tad too dry :(

Ordered a dessert to end off the meal, and also because I was really intrigued by the desserts that they have to offer! We picked Kunafa to try! It's essentially fried Kataifi dough with butter, cheese, syrup, and sprinkled Pistachio! It was so good!! It might get a tad gelat after a while because it's a sweet dessert, so it's best to share. So glad we decided to be a little more adventurous on our food adventure this time!

Pretty pretty stained glass lamps we found while strolling around the area after dinner.

Shahrazad is a decent Egyptian / Middle Eastern restaurant but the prices can get slightly above average! We haven't tried Egyptian food before so it's a little hard to compare the standard but we definitely enjoyed our meal at the restaurant. Thank you G for being my wonderful food explorer and date (:
