Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
❤ ❤ ❤
Today is a celebration of love. For your partner, for your friends and for your family. I relish in such an occasion, only because there's so much love everywhere! Everyone's wishing one another, all the symbols of love and everything else just comes together on this one day. Of course I don't really support the marketing gimmicks of hyped up meals, flowers etc. Love shouldn't only be shown on this one day to your partners and everyone else. Love should be celebrated everyday. BUT, if you've been especially busy at work/school/life, here's your chance to take a break and let your partner know he/she is loved :)
Today, I want to touch a little on make-up, and to be exact, eye make-up! Introducing a new eye-shadow palette from Etude House: Play Color Eyes. I've received the #1 So Hot Play for the month of February. I've been using it for a while now, and even during the recent Chinese New Year visitings!
#1 So Hot Play helps you to create a everyday look, or a dramatic smokey eye look with the selection of colors available on the palette. After testing the colors on myself, I realised that the colors are highly pigmented and long-lasting. The colors are easily blendable and you can layer for a stronger look if you prefer.
Colors from L - R:
Party Gold, Burning Red, Temptation, Naked, Pony Tail, Modern City, Chic Blue, All Night, Snow Queen and Military Khaki
A good selection of natural nude colors, brown, navy, grey, black, white and a shimmery beige color!
Darkened the picture slightly so you can see the shimmers on the first block. The shimmers look so much prettier in real life and goes on well on your eyes. It helped me make my eyes pop! One of my favourite colors on the palette ;)
Here's my five favourite colors from the palette, which I stitched together in a collage!
Looks so pretty right, heehee! :P
I've tried a simpler girl next day look on a date recently with G, layering on Naked (4th from left) and Ponytail (5th from left) and finishing with Party Gold (1st from left) in the middle of my lids. I didn't layer on too much nor too dramatically because I was going for a simpler day look.
Besides putting on eye make-up occasionally on dates, I'll have to put on stronger make-up for studio shoots because of the strong lighting. Here's a look from one of my most recent shoots!
I'll be trying a fuss-free day to night look with minimal products because as busy modern women, having to rush from work to play is no easy feat! I'll be relying solely on the eye make-up for my eyes, and of course, my trusty false lashes. I've chosen a thicker and more dramatic one for my photo shoot, but it's too thick and heavy for normal wear.
Day Look
Again I've used the same colors as mentioned above (though you can't quite see the shimmers here I apologise!) but layered on Ponytail (the brown color) a lot higher than usual for a dramatic effect, and making it a lot darker by adding on more layers.
On Lips:
Etude House Dear My Jelly Lips Talk JPK002
(which I love to use during my studio shoots)
Night Look
My eye looks like it has a lot more depth now because of the All Night (2nd from right) added near the lashline of my eyes. I've applied it such that it follows the shape of my eyes to give it a slightly more dramatic look. No eyeliner required, just a simple stroke that would perhaps take you less than 5 minutes to apply and to touch up your powder, allowing you to go from work to dinner/party! Apply a darker shade of lipstick for that sultry look ;)
On Lips: Etude House Rosy Tint Lips #1
The blending & application techniques I used on myself may not work for every individual eye shapes because I have hidden double eyelids and the ends of my eyes are slightly hooded too. Even I find it challenging to apply eye shadows on myself in the past. But practice and lots of Youtubing for tutorials helps for you to find a technique that suits your eye shape best!
Play Color Eyes retails at S$37.90 and is available at all Etude House outlets!
Have a very lovely day and weekend ahead everyone!
