Via Veritas Vita

Ahhh, I've succumbed to the viruses once again. Hello sore throat & cough. It's been too soon! Last week was crazy busy! Meeting up with my girlfriends, managing L&E launches, doing the flea and 'heaty' late night suppers. It took a toll on my body, and I kept complaining to G about how tired I really am. I guess fatigue made my immune system really vulnerable.

I decided to spread the launch out this week (to a Sunday!!), and take on lesser jobs and to generally exhaust myself a little less. Pile on the vitamin C!! I'm not sure if it's the weather as well. Hot, cold, hot, cold :/

I know this is lagged, but here are my picks from the last Lace & Ebony's collection!

Lovine Maxi Dress

This crochet piece is so sweet don't you think? It's THE dress to wear to that dinner date, or a girl's night out! So pleased with the material and the fit. I can't wait to wear my piece out! This is open for backorders if you didn't grab a piece during the launch!

Kinglsey Lace Dress

Haha yet another feminine looking piece. Yes I know I love feminine pieces, but that's not all to my style ;) But yes, this piece is so flattering, I chose to wear it during the Zalora shoot. Of course I must choose something that makes me look skinny and flatter my broad shoulders right! Hahaha. Loveee it. It's out of stock though!

Madame Dress

I love the color of this dress! White flatters me I think! More so than black, because I don't have strikingly fair skin. It isn't as short as it looks though. It'll be available in a mauve-pink tone in the next launch!

Wellis Sequin Collar Dress

A sequin collared dress!! Haha, this piece is really pretty & the color easily brightens up anyone's day! The other color Jade is on backorders! Somehow Jade seems more popular, haha, but I don't really like green :/

Gracie Romper

I think it's really important for rompers to have a flattering cut! Sure you can have it loose and wear a belt. But if it's a zipped romper, it better jolly well fit and flatter! And this is what this burgundy beauty does. It really really fits well on a UK 8 frame best! When G saw this on the racks, he was like, "I think you'd need a belt", and I said "No? I think it'll be fine!" True enough I was right, hahaha! But anyway, this is sold out too and I have people asking for backorders but I don't think the supplier has more stocks :(

Go shop Spring Awakening if you haven't! The backorders will close tomorrow, so hurrryyy :)

Last night, we went for the Penitential mass. I felt so sick and nauseous that I was afraid I was going to throw up halfway during my confession. I don't know if it was partially triggered by my reluctance to confess because I don't particularly like confessing in this manner. (Honestly and sadly so) But I plucked up the courage and prayed for guidance that it'll go well. It did, thankfully. While confessing, the only thought I had was, was Father thinking what a lame sin I'm confessing? Hahaha, sigh, it's the thing that bothers me. Why am I so conscious! :(

Okay, I'm going to retire to my nest and rest. Anddd to finish up the pictures for the next launch. Sooo much to do (plus school)! Help!

Bistro Soori

Bistro Soori

G and I love to explore new food places, and especially the new or highly raved ones. HungryGoWhere is our food-o-meter and we would also tally the reviews with the places we want to try. Bistro Soori has been highly raved by ladyironchef, and G recommended the place for us to visit as a date out! It's been a while since we've had that this year... and we both do love food & dressing up for these dates, hee!

Lovely quaint restaurant tucked away in a little corner of the street. The interior deco is minimalistic and very zen too!

I love how the 50mm prime lens makes me GLOW :P

OYSTERS!!! This was G's appetizers and even a non-oyster lover like me was bought over by the freshness and the taste of it. Simply delightful! Very clean and not fishy. The thing at the bottom is sea-salt and we used it to sprinkle all over the oysters.

Scallops for me :) The simple scallop could taste so good! The success of this dish lies in their marination and the freshness of the scallop.

Miso soup! I never knew miso soup could taste so good!! :)

On to the main courses. G ordered pork tenderloin. The pork was nicely done & I like really this dish! But I love mine better hahaha (personal preference but both are excellent!).

Hanger steak! Its a special cut of beef, and I love the way they've done this. The marination was superb, couple with the potatoes. It's so simple... but the taste in itself is complex and tantalising!

YUMYUMYUM! :D

I think the chef is busy making our dessert at this time haha!

G looking HAPPY! :)

Last course - Desserts! I ordered Panna cotta (my favourite). You'd always see a panna cotta with me around! I love their version of panna cotta. It's light and refreshing! One of my top favourite restaurants for panna cotta!

Pandan Souffle! This was a surprise. Who would imagine adding pandan flavour to souffles? The taste didn't disappoint!! Light and fluffy dessert! Looking at all these pictures again makes me hungry!!

Thank you, my lovely lunch date, for bringing me to such hidden gems for dates!

Happy happy me! :)

Priced at $39, the set lunch is perfect for those to want a glimpse into Bistro Soori's exceptional dishes! I feel it's a reasonable price for a 3 course meal (does the soup count??). Plus, all that we've ordered was so delectable, the price wasn't anything to complain about. This is definitely worth the visit! Two thumbs up :)

White flag

Bacccckkk from the flea @ Scape! It was a crazy crazy day indeed. From waking up early to do some last minute packing, to rushing down to the flea, and to setting up and dismantling it all at the end of the day. The fatigue was multiplied by the lack of rest & crazy amount of things to do/outings with girlfriends from the past week. But the rewards are satisfying albeit tiring! :)

I've been taking a lot on my plate this entire year. Juggling Lace & Ebony, school, an internship, and having a life. It boils down to a few more weeks to mark the end of my entire education, and it's honestly scary to think about the road beyond that. It gets exhausting when everything decides to pile up, leaving me a debt of work to do non-stop. I'm panting and trying to catch my breath but there really isn't much time to do so. Especially when the work isn't something you are passionate about, all the more it seems weary. Sigh, time to resign and put up that white flag.

I've said it too many times on this blog, complaining about the education system in Lasalle. I can't speak much for the other courses and specialisation, but I know the course that I am in right now best. So please do your research, talk to the students, before jumping into a school that you think is 'pretty cool'. If anyone is thinking of pursuing Fashion Management, drop me an email/comment, and I'd very gladly tell you the harsh truths & sad facts of a private education. I know the government is trying very hard to advocate the Arts, but I'm sorry to say, sometimes you need to hire the right people to do the right jobs. The foreign talents aren't that talented afterall.

On to some happier things...

G & I discovered a pretty cool chill-out place in the East! I love the East & all the little food escapades it offers. Supper places galore! :D G loves waffles and we decided to check out this shop to rate their ice-cream & waffles! So far we've tried Udders, Salted Caramel for their waffles & ice-cream. And I must say, BLIC pawns them all! Their ice-cream is comparable to Salted caramel though! They had unique flavours (Milo dino, milk tea, appletini etc) to entice people... just like the other ice-cream parlours (sorry for the lack of more pictures to illustrate the flavours), but this waffle won me over! The waffle was crispy and very light! It doesn't make the dessert very full & gelat, especially when you're looking for a sweet treat after a heavy dinner (which we had). We chose cookies and cream to go along with our waffle. Their cookies and cream is really good! They blended the cookies with the ice-cream to give it a richer cookie flavour, and I LOVE IT! :D

SOOOO HAPPY we found some good ice-cream & waffle to end off our day!

Me looking evidently drained from the day but G looks good here and it's the only picture of us taken today. Hahaha.

La Vie en rose

A continuation from the Valentine's post! This is what the silly boy surprised me with one week after Valentine's day. It was a prolonged period of a lot of unhappiness between us hence this sweet surprise (my close friends should know why), but I've chosen to adopt a Lent commitment, and this year I choose, "To forgive". So yuppp, it's not going to be easy, but I know I'm not alone in this and it's comforting to know that.

This was taken on the 3rd day, so some roses have started to wilt, but nevertheless, the beauty is still captured and the sweetness forever remembered :) I don't really like how I love roses, a very, very common flower to like among women. But there's something about roses that can really relate to me. Maybe it has something to do with the thorns on the stalks, hahaha! But it has always been my favourite flower, and I'm so glad he has chosen to do up a bouquet of roses in the most unconventional way. And of course, to buy roses when it's much cheaper (a week after Valentine's day!!), if not, my heart will really ache for the money spent!!

I love how the petals look. SO SO PRETTY...

Thank you G. I feel the love :)

Picture updates from the iPhone!

Dinner @ Ikea! We were especially starving that night, so we ordered two plates of 15 meatballs, 6 chicken wings, one platter of smoked salmon, dessert and drinks. Crazy much!!

Draw Something is crazy addictive! Hahahaha can you guess what's this word?! This is me trying to guess Jo's word and failing terribly. It looks like a sunflower??

Supper last friday!! YUMYUM!

This is a plate of awesomeness :D Sashimi platter! The fairy prawns (shrimps?) were really good!

My boy doing what he loves, while I watched over, happy to see him happy.

CP Ban mian is da bombz. If you haven't tried it, YOU SHOULD! Simple looking but the soup is out of this world! :)

Supper last night. Fattyness ensues!

A preview of the shoot we did yesterday! Loving this combination. Classic & feminine! More to come soon!

My MacBook's trackpad is officially going crazy. Typing this entry proved to be a pain. Can you imagine trying to type out an essay, with days when the trackpad just wouldn't listen?! Sigh. My poor MacBook baby is getting old. I really really do love it because I have it in black and apparently there are no more black Macs in the market anymore soooo... this is absolutely limited edition. Hang in there!! :(
