Day 7 - We headed over to East Harlem to try a recommended "hole in a wall" eating place - Earl's Beer & Cheese. New Yorkers seem to term small outlets as such, I don't know why, but we came across a lot of these terms on Yelp, which is btw, a MUST download when you head to America. Life-saver!! It helps you to find good eating places in the vicinity and has up-to-date honest reviews about the food. Pretty much like Hungrygowhere except better!
We've tried, Beer Cheese, Kimchi Pork Belly Sandwich, and the Bread & Butter Pudding! All recommended food by everyone on Yelp! Verdict? Yes, they are all worth your stomach space and money! We were soooo stuffed but we just had to try the dessert, and me being a huge fan of bread & butter pudding, I must say it's one of the best ones I've tasted! In Singapore I'm not a huge fan of dessert with dinner because that's just uber fattening and my stomach doesn't have space for such indulgence all the time, but when in NYC... things are different. We can go, full meal, then dessert #1 and dessert #2!!!
We then headed to Central Park for a walk! The winds were really bad at that time and I had to hide out at Starbucks for a bit to get a hot drink and seek shelter from the raging winds. It doesn't look that bad in the pictures right? It's all sunny and dandy but NOOOO, cold!!!
Japanese food for dinner at Fujiyama. There was a scoutmob 50% off voucher so we seized the chance to get some Asian fix! What's really interesting about this place was the unique sushi varieties that they offer. Other than the sashimi being pretty fresh, it was alright I guess! :) We wouldn't really head there without the 50% off deal because sashimi in NYC is reallllyyyy pricey!
La Churreria for Chocolate dipped churros. It was nice! I love churros and adding chocolate to it just made it more delightful! Be mindful that the place is rather small so you probably gotta sit really close to the next table, but thankful that at least we managed to get seats! And of course, to end off the cold night, gelato at Il Laboratorio Del Gelato. Again, this is a recommended place from some of the food blogs we've researched on. They offer quite a variety of gelato in a laboratory-looking place, hehe cute. I forgot the flavours we chose but I felt that it was above-average nice but not fantastic-wow-I-must-come-back kind of nice. It's still a good place to visit to see the unique flavours that they offer! :)
It's almost coming to the end of June and reaching into the second half of the year. Wow, 2012 is going by REALLY FAST. It's time to clear some personal clothes/accessories and time for L&E to clear more stocks to bring in newer and prettier clothes! Come these weekends, it's lelong time! :D More details soon!
