Chinese New Year 2013

Chinese New Year has got to be my second most favourite holiday of the year! All that non-stop feasting for 15 days (or more!), the receiving of red packets, and of course, buying new clothes and dressing up!!! Hahaha. The last two things are probably the best out of them all, hehe. I made a little more emphasis on dressing up this year because occasions like these give me so much more reason to dress up and look good!

I do need to apologise for the bad quality of pictures taken with the phone. Especially the low-light ones! Sigh, maybe I should have edited them with a filter before posting them up!

Day before Chu Xi (Reunion dinner day):

My family had a reunion dinner that's a day before the actual day because it's my aunt's birthday, plus to accomodate everyone, we have to have it before the actual day. Off to Seafood Paradise for dinner!

Relaxed Blouse: Bershka
Pastel Skorts: Upcoming on Lace & Ebony

A lot of people commented on the skorts after I've put it up on my Instagram! Hehe, I'm so glad I brought them in. I really love the cutting as well and it's honestly quite hard to find a decent skater skirt that isn't too short, but since these came with shorts inside, why not! No more embarrassing moments when the wind comes :) Launched a solid color series in the recent collection! Some colors & sizes are still available here: http://www.laceandebony.com/collections/frontpage/products/meister-skorts-red. These are a little different from the one I'm wearing in the picture though!

CHINESE NEW YEAR DAY ONE:

Belyin Black Contrast Halter Dress (in Red): Lace & Ebony
Bag: Balenciaga

My first manufactured dress, and of course I'll wear it on the first day of Chinese New Year! I love how this fits, seriously. Initially I was a bit worried about the length, a screw up on the factory end, but I've grown to love it! It's quite a save for the working women as well. Thank you all who supported my first dress. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support, but I hope you do enjoy the dress and post up pictures if you've worn it and hashtag #laceandebony! :)

It was the normal routine of visiting both my maternal and paternal side for the first day. It got... really exciting then the excitement died down pretty fast because I was so exhausted haha! Can't wait to just sit down and zone out. Sadly I'm not very close to my cousins due to age gap, or just simply only meet them once a year. Sigh. I feel like an only child.

We watched Ah Boys to Men II on the first night as well, as a whole extended family... so its like >12 tickets purchased? Haha! Fun though!

CHINESE NEW YEAR DAY TWO:

Experimented with my makeup that day because of my lavender dress, and this is the result! Hahaha! Like it? :)

Lovely G came over toooo! Thank you for keeping me company even though you were reading your notes so much. Haha. It's still appreciated! :)

Sleepy look + my Tiffany x2Hearts! :P

My favourite CNY goodie of the year! I think my preferences change every year hahaha! I mean, I love them all, but I seem particularly incline to one goodie every year.

 CHINESE NEW YEAR DAY THREE:

Lace Midi Dress: Primark

Visiting at G's place with my family :o :o hahaha first time for my family to tag along, but it was an interesting visit and G's parents are ever so kind. So grateful <3 Kudos to my parents for being so brave too, hahaha!

And it was off to my uncle's place for his birthday + my cousin's birthday celebration! Kinda cool to have father and son's birthday on the same day isn't it :P Here's my attempt to take a picture with the cutie pie Bibi! (I always thought his name was Bebe... yknow, like the brand? Haha!)

After sooo many attempts to take the little hyperactive sweetheart, G had to hold him still so he'd stop moving for one second, haha! Cropped G's arm out for a picture on my Instagram wahahaha.

Crazy in love with the lace prints on my dress. Oh how I miss shopping in London...

And... another louhei! We always get it out of the plate + onto everyone's hands hahaha! It's always so messy but everyone has fun lou-ing and saying auspicious phrases! May everyone HUAT AH! :P

Confetti that my youngest cousin was popping and playing with. Pretty colors!

And to end off, a picture with the cutie pie!! :*

Spring a surprise

Lace & Ebony's Spring Lookbook Behind-the-Scenes!

Just over a week ago, Lave & Ebony did another outdoor lookbook together with Smittenpixels! (: I especially loved how the photos turned out for the Chinese New Year lookbook and extremely excited to engage Fiona again to help me. She's really such a sweetie, and very receptive to the kind of look and feel I'm trying to achieve. Spring's my favourite season because of the sweet hues and fun & flirty looks with florals, chiffon etc. Gotta make the most out of this season before we move on to hot hot Summer.

Incorporating my latest fad... Artificial flowers. Haha! I am madly in love with them on my head, in my room, mostly for decorating purposes. Splurged quite a bit on them too, heehee!

Can you guess where we were at? So thankful that the weather held up for us for that few hours! It was raining before the shoot, and it's going to rain quite a bit for the coming next week so it's difficult to postpone it tooo. What a start to the Water Snake year! Thank you for holding it in for us! :D

I am in love with the gorgeous floral details on this top!!

My favourite BTS shot :) Being on the jetty and staring out into the open waters and the surrounding greenery felt so... calming. I felt this strange wave of tranquility that soothed my tired mind and body. I really really want to do it again!!

And the tale of the mischievous monkey... He/she was ransacking our things when we left it at a shelter. Tskkk. Someone was also feeding the monkey! G snapped this picture after he shooed it away from our bags, hahaha. Oh and yes, all BTS pictures provided by my dearest boy. Thank you for being there with me and for the rides there and back! Your presence is always such a blessing <3

I've gotten the lookbook pictures from Fiona and I'm so in love with them! I can't wait to share it with everyone on Lace & Ebony's facebook. Keep an eye out for our collection's preview pictures that we're gonna upload later today (:

To the Land of Thousand Smiles and back

Hai there! (:

I'm back with a BKK travelogue!! I know there's some sort of a backlog accumulating with CNY, Valentine's Day, and of course, preview pictures for the next collection (launching next week teehee!). G & I took a quick getaway to the land of a thousand smiles over the weekend before CNY. It was a refreshing getaway that we very badly need because we had to have some time to ourselves. Thank you my lovely travel buddy <3

Us at Changi Airport, before flying off. I was extremely exhausted from the Chinese New Year launches on Lace & Ebony and had so many things to tie up & errands to run before jetsetting off. Goodness. It was so exhausting, but we're still extremely excited :D

Upon reaching BKK, we cabbed to our hotel, Glow Pratunam. It was a fairly new hotel that's pretty close to the main shopping area!

I must say, I was extremely pleased with the cleanliness & decor of the room. After Europe, I honestly come to realise that at least for me, part of the experience also includes having a good shower (user-friendly) and a good bed to have my night's rest. Maybe the accommodations I've stayed at, really marred my experiences :( I love the shower area, and the beds are heavenly. We have difficulties getting up every morning because it's just too awesome to lie in the soft sheets & down pillows. Goshhh, I miss it already :(

Not a very nice view of our vicinity... but who's there for the views?!

The food pictures above are all from Platinum Mall's food court! The food there is really yummy and the prices are cheap to boot! They also have a huge array of desserts and snacks. I only wish I could stomach them all...

Roadside food stalls that smell so good... but after my Barcelona food poisoning scare, I was a little more careful.

Oh, and we specially went to check out Somtom Nua at Siam Square after reading reviews about them! (:

A collage I've also posted on Instagram! Add me if you haven't (littlemissann) (:

We both loved the food at Somtom Nua! The dishes are seemingly simple from the menu, but they taste so flavourful & it's really gooood! Our favourite has got to be the fish & for me, the Fried noodles (not pictured here)! Sorry, I can't quite remember the exact names, but there aren't many dishes on the menu haha! Price wise, it's not very cheap but still very much affordable and everything amounted to about $18 per person for the amount of food we had.

Looks so much like Boo!! The famous dog on the internet!

Our loots from the Big C supermarket. Lots of CNY goodies for both our families. I'm so happy with what I bought cos my parents seem very delighted eating them! Hee.

After which, we walked over to Siam Paragon to try the much raved Red Velvet Waffles from Anotherhound Cafe. Hahaha bugged G so much to check the place out! Plus, Cinnabon (my favourite since I was a little girl!!) was at Siam Paragon, sooo we just had to head there! :P

We ordered two different waffles to try and just had to do a picture spam on them cos they look so good! Hahaha, G's one was full of chocolatey goodness, while I went for the Red Velvet! The red velvet waffles itself was yummy, but I felt that more could be done to enhance the entire dessert. I might try to customise my own, with toppings & the red velvet waffles the next time I'm there!

We also headed down to Chinatown to try the street food!

G's adventurous attempt with a Pig's organ soup! Hahahaha... honestly... I don't really know how to stomach it after watching how they handle the food, and how they wash the dishes. :/ This was one of the outdoor stalls. Don't feel ready to take on food poisoning #2 in 1 month so I gave this a miss. He said it was nice though! We ended up settling a proper dinner at a proper place with indoor seatings haha!

Bangkok's traffic is... legendary!

It was my dear boy's birthday that day, but... instead of heading to a classy restaurant, I brought him to try Boat noodles! Hahaha. Thank you for not being mad at me for bringing you to such a "cheapo" place to feast!

There are a lot of boat noodle stalls along the same stretch... but we decided to try The Best of Boat Noodles, hahaha. Dishes are served in small portions in small bowls, and we've seen many tables ordering more than 10 bowls at a go! Each bowl was about 10 baht? With an exception for those in the orange bowls that mainly consisted of meatballs, cuttlefish, fish, etc. Those are pricer but they are delicious together with the lethal chilli! Thinking about them really makes me hungry :( :(

Look at what we ate that day!! Hahaha.

We headed back to Siam Paragon later that day to do a bit more feasting on the food stalls at the basement before our departure. So much good food k. It's non stop eating in the land of smiles. Plus, there was the Four Seasons Duck in Siam Paragon toooo. I nearly died when I saw it but we didn't have enough time to try it :( Please go back with me again G!!! You're my insanely synced food khaki <3

It's been a while since we've been back to BKK, and so thankful that we can make this trip to BKK together. Thank you for your company (: It definitely is memorable and I can see why so many people are in love with BKK! I felt pampered all round, heehee! Till the next time ;)
